MEDICARE

A Mental Health Treatment Plan lets you claim up to 20 sessions with a psychologist each calendar year.  Speak to your GP or Psychiatrist about a referral to Templestowe Psychology.

VOCAT

If you are a victim of a violent crime which occurred in Victoria, you may be eligible for financial assistance under The Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT). We are experienced in assisting clients who are making an application to the VOCAT. VOCAT outcomes will determine psychology sessions for suitable applicants. There is NO gap fee for clients with approved VOCAT sessions.

WorkSafe

All WorkSafe referrals are aimed at return to work for injured workers. Improving Psychological health and well-being of the individual is paramount to returning to work. All claims need to be lodged via your treating GP. In order to commence sessions, your claim needs to be first accepted by WorkSafe. All sessions are billed directly to the relevant WorkSafe insurer and there is NO gap fee for the patient, once approved.

TAC

If you or your immediate family have been impacted by road trauma, the TAC may fund psychology sessions. A client must be initially referred by their treating GP.

The TAC will fund sessions to treat mental health issues relevant to the road trauma and the number of sessions will vary from person to person. Treatment plans will be discussed in your first session. There is NO gap payment for the client when attending with an approved TAC treatment plan.

NDIS

Although Templestowe Psychology is not a registered NDIS provider, you can still access psychology services if you are self managed. Your plan manager will be invoiced directly.

FAQs

Referrals

How do I obtain a referral?

Patients can obtain a Mental Health Care plan from their GP or Psychiatrist under the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. This entitles you to a rebate towards 20 of your sessions, each calendar year. Your GP or Specialist will complete a detailed mental health assessment to prepare a Mental Health Care plan before seeing us. You should book a longer session with your GP to enable
them to do this.

All of our practitioners are registered under Medicare. This practice is committed to provided quality mental health services to the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Medicare rebates are dependent upon your unique circumstances and length of session.

Do I need a referral to commence sessions?
No, you may choose to see a Psychologist privately. That is, without seeing your doctor first. If you have private health insurance you can claim directly onsite with us, or you can simply pay the full fees without any rebates.
